What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are numerous benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over conventional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single visit, you just need to visit the dental practitioner one time, take one day from your routine to have the treatment, instead of the normal two or 3 visits.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, because the entire treatment can be carried out within an hour you only have to have one injection.

  • Your dental practitioner is in complete control of the final outcome, given that the crown or inlay are designed and fabricated from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have total control over how it will look and fit.

  • No temporary restorations, which can typically fall off in between visits if they are not taken care of correctly.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
