Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.

Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique typically involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
