Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
