Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
