Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still really resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
