Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are numerous advantages to having treatment with same day crowns over standard, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single appointment, you only have to visit the dentist once, take one day away from your routine to have the procedure, instead of the usual two or three appointments.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, given that the whole procedure can be carried out within an hour you just have to have one injection.

  • Your dental practitioner is in complete control of the final result, because the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have total control over how it will look and fit.

  • No short-term restorations, which can typically fall off between visits if they are not looked after correctly.

Today's Topic Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a badly damaged joint.
