Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
