Today We Will Be Talking About:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are numerous ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth dramatically. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous methods: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of day-to-day use. 3 various strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and practical bleaching procedure. The appointment is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays must be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
