Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
