There are various types of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is examined and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and appearance return and one simply continues as usual. Often implants can be utilized to further support the dentures.
It is important to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your self-esteem in social circumstances, and even your self-esteem.
A Few Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper complete denture will almost always feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we regularly recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. Often, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
