Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
