What Are Single Visit Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental professional can economically restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has been removed. This new technology has more than a decade of medical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and efficient.

A Beautiful Smile!

A stunning smile is one of your greatest possessions - a reflection of joy and good health.

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
