Crowns In Only A Day

Exactly what happens when a tooth becomes badly decayed or broken? It has to be capped with a crown; otherwise, you might need to fix it later on.

Replacing your tooth with a crown now will not only assist you to restore your smile's performance, it will also assist you to protect|safeguard|secure} the root beneath.

Maintaining both is very important to having a healthy smile
In the past, using a standard crown to restore a tooth and protect the root beneath took at least 2 appointments to the dentist.

At the very first appointment, the dentist would prepare the tooth and after that take an impression, which would be sent to a dental laboratory. While the laboratory fabricated the long-term crown, the patient would use a short-term crown to protect the tooth.

As soon as the permanent crown arrived back in the dentist's office, the patient would go back to have the crown sealed or adhesively bonded into position.

The Topic Of The Day Is:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. As soon as this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be extremely agonizing. Signs that the pulp has actually become infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms appear and the person is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. As soon as the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
