Today's Subject Will Be:

Dentures (Dental)

There are different types of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.

The entire mouth is analyzed and a decision is made about which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and appearance return and one simply carries on as usual. Commonly implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social situations, and even your self-esteem.

A Couple Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the very same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to dramatically enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
