Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
