Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
