Single Visit Crowns - A Smart Technology

We strive to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown technology in our office. It allows us to develop crowns and bigger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most sophisticated dental innovation, consisting of 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.

Typically, a crown in the past would have required two appointments. The very first visit includes preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a temporary crown. Throughout the 2nd visit, the short-term crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the entire procedure can be completed in simply one appointment. We will use video imaging innovation to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM innovation to design the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transferred to a milling device that carves the restoration from a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the brand-new crown to your tooth. This removes the need to wear a short-term in addition to a 2nd appointment.

Restorative dentistry procedures can be very important to the general health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a visit.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital imagery of locations needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad scope of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like many dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
