Today We Will Be Talking About:

Dental Dentures

There are various kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The entire mouth is examined and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular capability and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further support the dentures.

It is important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared with natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your self-esteem in social situations, as well as your self-confidence.

Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper full denture will often feel better than a lower full denture. In order to dramatically improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we often suggest utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably improve comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for multiple years.
