What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental practitioner can economically bring back broken teeth in a single consultation using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a special camera to take an precise photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has actually been eliminated. This brand-new innovation has more than a decade of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and reliable.

A Lovely Smile!

A beautiful smile is one of your biggest assets - a reflection of joy and good health.

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
