Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
