Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
