At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, what are same day crowns and exactly what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that enables us to fix damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in simply one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single visit, generally in about an hour.

So exactly what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent out to the milling system.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not developed layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the device, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

At last, the custom made crown restoration bonded flawlessly into the tooth, enhancing and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We need to make sure that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

Today's Topic Is:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover issues early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. As soon as this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely unpleasant. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms appear and the individual is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. When the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is suggested for bring back a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
