The Discussion Of The Day Is:

Dental Dentures

There are various kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The whole mouth is analyzed and a decision is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and look return and one simply continues as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.

It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-esteem.

A Couple Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing ability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other treatments

An upper full denture will usually feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to drastically improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we frequently suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
