DALLAS TEXAS

Updated On Sunday, February 17, 2019 08:36:09 AM

Our practice likes new innovations, specifically when it enhances the dental care that we can offer to our patients. Because of this we now offer same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a wonderful brand-new technology where stunning all porcelain crowns are created within two hours of the preparation of a tooth for a crown. The old process was where the dental practitioner prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a laboratory to have the crown constructed. During this time the patient would have to wear a temporary plastic crown that was always uncomfortable.

Today, our devices permits us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a brand-new all porcelain crown within 2 hours. This means that the client leaves our office with the permanent crown that day!

  • There's no need to have a temporary crown for two to three weeks.

  • There is no need to return again to have the same day crown inserted on your tooth.

  • There is no need to be numbed up once more! No more shots!

Our practice likes same day crowns because it is made of stunning material and also very durable.

If your thinking about a same day crown, please give our office a call.

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both kinds of fillings, however find that many of their patients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply excellent durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, frequently allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the entire filling process and they undergo stain and staining over time. The life span of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also typically used to fix front teeth that have broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding generally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
