Three Reasons To Get Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown positioned over one of your teeth in the past, you know that the procedure normally involves at least two visits to the dental practitioner and the placement of a short-term crown before you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a brand-new procedure for installing crowns that can permit you to get a permanent crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices allow crowns to be produced right there beside the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a few reasons that same day crowns may be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, removing the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are perfectly practical and safe, they're often thought as less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, particularly for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown precisely to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Money And Time

Every hour you invest at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Having to return to the dentist's office a number of times for one procedure might indicate getting time off at work authorized for more than one day, getting a sitter for more than one day, or filling your car with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you take a look at it, numerous dental appointments cost you money, in addition to what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything performed in one appointment conserves time, and time is cash.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact specs provided by the digital scan.

This permits the dentist to maintain as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest alternative for your jaw.

This also permits the dentist to use the device to produce inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more protection than a filling will provide but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements supplied by the same day crown device, teeth that may once have actually needed a complete crown might now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you know that one of your damaged teeth will probably need a crown, be sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Subject Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a severely damaged joint.
