Two Reasons To Talk With Your Dentist Concerning Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a great option that makes getting a crown a lot more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns operate in similar way as standard crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, instead of being purchased from a dental lab like traditional crowns.

Here are 2 reasons to talk to your dental practitioner about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

Far more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant reason that lots of people decide to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay numerous appointments to your dentist before the crown was in position, with one appointment dedicated to preparing your tooth and another appointment to place the permanent crown over your tooth.

While that might not appear like it is too time-consuming, it can often be tough to require time off from your job or family numerous times in the space of a week or 2 in order to see your dentist during normal business hours.

Because the same-day crown is manufactured in-house by your dental practitioner, you will have the final crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown appointment.

This is handy because you will not need to worry about irritating your boss, having your co-workers cover for you, or missing out on pay because you needed to leave in the middle of the work day numerous times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dentist for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfortable due to the fact that you will not have to spend a week or more wearing a temporary crown while waiting for your permanent crown.

A short-term crown can frequently give quite a bit of irritation and discomfort due to the fact that it can typically end up being loose quickly.

When a temporary crown is loose, it can enable liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also cause the temporary crown to move along your gum and trigger the skin to become scratched and irritated.

While you typically do not have to wear a temporary crown for long, a same-day crown can allow you to avoid any concerns related to the temporary crown completely.

This type of crown is going to be both a lot more comfortable and a lot more practical to get than a standard crown.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect problems early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. Once this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be very uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for recovering a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
