Dental Bonding (Composite)
Bonding is a treatment in which we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific circumstances where a tooth has been broken or become stained. These are usually minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly inexpensive ways instead of through a more costly dental procedure.
Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a lustrous finish as a last step.
