Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays a vital function in our practice. This amazing development in chair side dentistry gives us the tools to create, produce, and set crowns, inlays and onlays in a single visit.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The standard technique to a crown or inlay and onlay typically needed a return appointment after the client waited (with a short-term restoration in the tooth) for about two weeks while the restoration was made in a separate laboratory. Same day crown CAD/CAM innovation removes the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns use a unique camera to take an accurate image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD (computer-aided design) software to develop the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes control of and automatically mills the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the brand-new restoration is bonded in place.

The whole process takes about one hour, and there are no irritating temporaries or second visit required!

Proven Technology

With twenty years of medical research and more than 20 million restorations carried out worldwide, same day crowns have shown to be a an reliable, safe and practical innovation that we are delighted to provide to our patients.

Today's Topic Is About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
