What's So Great About Same Day Crowns?

In a normal dental practice, getting dental crowns is a long and typically an unpleasant procedure that can take numerous weeks to finish. However, our practice uses same day crown technology, which enables us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Imagine coming into our dental office to get a crown and walking out the same day with a strong, durable, and visually pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for more information!

The Single Visit Crown Process

Throughout your appointment, you and your dentist will discuss the details of the procedure and your dentist will answer any questions you might have. Your dental practitioner will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a image of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to produce your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a full range of indications: inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns and veneers.

The Topic For Today Will Be:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a badly damaged joint.
