Exactly What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the purpose of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to improve its look. To prepare for the crown, dentists drill to get rid of the decayed area as well as form the tooth to get ready for the crown for that part which lies around and above the gum line.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used for a broad range of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

The Topic For Today Will Be:

Dental Dentures

There are different kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.

The whole mouth is analyzed and a decision is made about which teeth will have to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are placed in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular capability and appearance return and one just continues as usual. Often implants can be used to further support the dentures.

It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when compared with natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social situations, as well as your self-confidence.

A Couple Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to significantly enhance the fit of a lower full denture, we often recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly improve comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
