Don't have time for the routine two dental appointment crown?

Technology today is altering our daily lives. Lots of people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and interesting ways.

Advanced developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less pain and developing gratifying results.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, allow dentists to rapidly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving clients time and inconvenience.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore broken teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling device in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take a precise photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD innovation to develop the restoration. The CAM takes control and immediately develops the restoration while the patient waits.

At lastly, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about two hours.

Exactly what does this innovation do for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners don't need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the conventional 2nd visit has actually been eliminated.

Same day crowns have two decades of clinical research study and documents to promote the technology. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and reliable.

How can I find out if this is an alternative for me?

Call our practice today and we will be glad to answer your questions on this new innovation.

Today's Subject Is:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a procedure where we apply a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in certain scenarios where a tooth has been damaged or become stained. These are usually small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable ways instead of through a more pricey dental treatment.

How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the positioning of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface area. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to get a lustrous finish as a last step.
