The Benefits Of Using Single Visit Crowns Are:

  • It is time-saving. It allows you to have your dental crown put in place in just one dental visit.

  • Its material is biocompatible. Same day crowns use ceramic which mimics the look of your natural teeth thus making it visually pleasing. It does not trigger temperature sensitivity which holds true when it comes to dental crowns made from metals.

  • It is durable. Same day crowns have the same durability as those made from gold materials.

  • It is more accurate. The impression made from this brand-new innovation is more accurate compared with traditional impressions.

  • Taking dental impression is more comfortable. Same day crowns use intraoral camera and CAD to take the impression of the tooth while traditional dental impression is done using salt alignate.

The only downside of a single visit crown is that not all patients are candidates for this treatment. Patients with substantial tooth damage that has actually reached the gum line requires a traditional crown instead of a same day crown. Also, the damage in the front tooth requires a laboratory-manufactured crown due to the fact that they are meticulously made than same day crowns.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, but find that a lot of their patients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer excellent durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, frequently allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling procedure and they undergo stain and discoloration in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to fix front teeth that have cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding normally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
