Are you too busy for the routine 2 dental visit crown?

Technology today is altering our daily lives. Lots of people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and amazing methods.

Cutting-edge innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less pain and developing satisfying results.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, permits dental practitioners to rapidly fix broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving patients time and trouble.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can quickly restore broken teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling device in one instrument.

The dental practitioner utilizes a unique camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner utilizes CAD technology to develop the restoration. The CAM takes over and immediately develops the restoration while the client waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about two hours.

What does this innovation provide for a client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has actually been removed.

Same day crowns have twenty years of clinical research and paperwork to promote the technology. The restorations have been shown accurate, safe and reliable.

Today We Will Be Reviewing:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify problems early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. As soon as this happens, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely painful. Symptoms that the pulp has actually become infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any issue till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is recommended for restoring a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
