Dental Bonding (Composite)
Bonding is a procedure where we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in specific circumstances where a tooth has been damaged or ended up being stained. These are typically small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly affordable methods instead of through a more expensive dental procedure.
Here Is How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the positioning of the tooth, close gaps in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material sticks to the surface area. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a glossy finish as a last step.
