Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
