Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
