Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
