Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are multiple methods to whiten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth dramatically. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Most dentists utilize numerous techniques: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.
The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. 3 various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.
Our in-office treatment is a really fast and practical lightening procedure. The appointment is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment since it is so easy and quick!
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be used every couple of months.
Reasons For Tooth Whitening:
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
- Normal wear of external tooth layer.
- Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
