If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or wish to eliminate unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a short-term crown placed then another appointment scheduled for the placement of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and long lasting and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you might wish to discuss your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a suggestion based upon your specific scenario.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this takes place, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be very agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is recommended for restoring a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
