Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays an important function in our practice. This amazing development in chair side dentistry provides us the tools to create, produce, and place crowns, inlays and onlays in a single visit.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The conventional technique to a crown or inlay and onlay often needed a return appointment after the client waited (with a short-term restoration in the tooth) for about two weeks while the restoration was produced in a different lab. Same day crown CAD/CAM technology removes the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns use a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD (computer-aided design) software to create the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes control of and immediately mills the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the new restoration is bonded in place.

The whole procedure takes about one hour, and there are no annoying temporaries or 2nd visit needed!

Proven Technology

With two decades of scientific research and more than 20 million restorations performed worldwide, same day crowns have actually shown to be a an efficient, safe and practical technology that we are delighted to provide to our patients.

Today We Will Be Talking About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a terribly damaged joint.
