3 Reasons To Ask About Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown put over one of your teeth previously, you know that the procedure normally involves at least 2 visits to the dental practitioner and the positioning of a temporary crown prior to you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a brand-new treatment for getting crowns that can allow you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name indicates, same day crown machines allow crowns to be created right there beside the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a few reasons same day crowns may be right for you.

Better Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, eliminating the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are completely practical and safe, they're frequently considered less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Money And Time

Every hour you spend at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Needing to go back to the dental practitioner's office multiple times for one procedure may mean getting time off at work approved for more than one day, getting a babysitter for more than one day, or filling your automobile with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you look at it, multiple dental visits cost you cash, in addition to what you're spending on the dental treatment. Getting everything performed in one visit conserves time, and time is cash.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact specs offered by the digital scan.

This enables the dentist to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest option for your jaw.

This also permits the dentist to use the device to develop inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more protection than a filling will offer but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more precise digital measurements offered by the same day crown device, teeth that might once have required a full crown may now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you know that one of your chipped teeth will probably require a crown, be sure to make an appointment with our dentists today.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal therapy. When this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really painful. Signs that the pulp has ended up being infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no signs appear and the individual is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
