Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
