What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dental practitioner can financially bring back broken teeth in a single consultation using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has been eliminated. This new technology has over 10 years of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique typically involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
