Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
