If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to eliminate unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a temporary crown placed then another check-up set up for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and durable and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In many cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you might want to discuss your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the types of crowns available and give you a recommendation based on your certain circumstance.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
