If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or wish to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the treatment. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a temporary crown placed and then another visit arranged for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are really strong and durable and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may vary between the two and you may want to discuss your budget as well with the your dentist. Your dentist will go over with you the types of crowns available and give you a recommendation based on your certain scenario.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Has To Do With:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a badly damaged joint.
