Normally, obtaining a crown for a damaged or weakening tooth is a long procedure that includes numerous steps and possibly several days of wait time before you get your brand-new tooth.

A same day crown makes it possible for you to walk in to see a dentist and leave with your new tooth currently in place. If you have a dental practitioner offering same day crowns and are anticipating your visit, it is most likely that you will have some concerns about the procedure.

Here are a few of the greatest concerns about same day crowns and the answers you will wish to know.

How is a same day crown any different from a regular dental crown?

The truth is, there is not a great deal of difference in the process to get a same day crown.

The only difference is that you will not be sent home to wait for your permanent crown to be produced by a dental lab, as the crown will be made in the dental office while you are there.

This eliminated the lengthy procedure of being fitted with a temporary crown and then later refitted with the permanent crown when it is complete.

How is it possible for a dental practitioner to create a permanent crown during your visit?

With developments in dental technology, if a dentist has the best equipment in the office, along with the best ability, they can create the new tooth from a solid piece of ceramic while you wait. This happens using a device that takes the direct measurement of the mouth and existing teeth and changes it into an actual prosthetic from the ceramic using precise computer technology.

Besides the obvious advantage of less time to complete, what are the advantages of same day crowns?

Same day crowns enables you to avoid the whole step of a temporary crown, which can be a hassel to care for and may be prone to dislodging with simple oral hygiene, such as flossing and brushing.

Since entire steps are removed from the crowning procedure, such as multiple dental visits, you may even save some money to have a new same day crown put on.

To walk into a dental practitioner office and walk out with a brand-new crown in one visit is an ideal and logical option for clients who require help with a damaged tooth.

Speak with your dental practitioner for additional information about same day crowns.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of most patients, there are numerous methods to bleach teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists use multiple methods: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is advised for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and convenient whitening procedure. The appointment is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and fast!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
