Can Same Day Crowns Help Me?

With this new innovation it permits dental practitioners to custom-craft restorations in just one hour. With this, we can make natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers here in our office while you relax. Now, there is no longer a need to make multiple appointments to the dentist's office to be measured and fitted with temporary restorations - you can take pleasure in a fantastic, natural looking, and long lasting option for your missing or broken teeth today.

First, your dental practitioner will consult with you to go over the details of the procedure. During the procedure, the dentist will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique camera to take a photo of your tooth.

Using the new software, the image acts as a map to create your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to produce your restoration piece out of ceramic.

Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth stronger and more stunning - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the high-grade ceramic material works with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists offer both types of fillings, however find that a number of their clients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide great durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, often allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the whole filling procedure and they undergo stain and staining with time. The life span of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently used to fix front teeth that have actually chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
