There are different kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is analyzed and a decision is made regarding which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular capability and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is essential to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you are able to eat, your self-confidence in social circumstances, and even your self-esteem.
Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper full denture will often feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to dramatically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly improve comfort. Often, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
