What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental professional can economically bring back broken teeth in a single appointment using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly produces the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second appointment has been removed. This new innovation has over a decade of clinical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Today Were Discussing:

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental issues.

Discovering problems with x-rays before they become problems can save you money in the long run by preventing the need for more extensive, pricey treatments or surgeries. X-rays are primarily used to spot:

  • Cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth).

  • Impacted teeth.

  • Teeth that are still coming in.

  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous.

  • Internal tooth decay.

Most dentists use digital x-rays, which have a number of advantages over traditional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays enable us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from traditional dental x-rays. The worry of direct exposure to excess radiation is eliminated.

Huge on-screen X-rays make patient communication more effective. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and precisely.

Digital radiography has greatly improved the practice of dentistry. It enables the patient and the medical professional to see pictures of the teeth in greater resolution on a huge format for much easier detection of problems, all while decreasing the radiation exposure to the client. The process we use further defines the radiograph, resulting in clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.

Images are available instantly after exposure, eliminating the wait and effort spent developing and mounting x-rays. If an image has to be retaken, it can be done instantly. Digital format also allows us to send out and get your images digitally for consultation that can be provided to you rapidly.
