What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the purpose of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to improve its appearance. To get ready for the crown, dental practitioners drill to get rid of the decayed area and also form the tooth to prepare for the crown for that portion which lies around and above the gum line.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a full scope of indications: inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns and veneers.

Today's Subject Is:

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems.

Finding issues with x-rays before they become problems can save you money in the long run by preventing the need for more extensive, pricey procedures or surgeries. X-rays are mostly used to spot:

  • Cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth).

  • Impacted teeth.

  • Teeth that are still coming in.

  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous.

  • Internal tooth decay.

Most dentists use digital x-rays, which have multiple advantages over conventional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from conventional dental x-rays. The worry of direct exposure to excess radiation is removed.

Large on-screen X-rays make client communication more efficient. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your dental health quickly and precisely.

Digital radiography has significantly enhanced the practice of dentistry. It allows the patient and the medical professional to see pictures of the teeth in greater resolution on a large format for much easier detection of issues, all while decreasing the radiation direct exposure to the patient. The procedure we use further defines the radiograph, leading to clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.

Images are available instantly after exposure, removing the wait and effort spent developing and mounting x-rays. If an image has to be retaken, it can be done immediately. Digital format also allows us to send and receive your images electronically for consultation that can be provided to you rapidly.
