The Conversation For Today Is:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of many patients, there are numerous ways to bleach teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth significantly. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of methods: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three various strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is advised for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and practical whitening process. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
