What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental practitioner can financially restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has actually been removed. This new technology has more than 10 years of medical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective.

The Topic For Today Will Be:

Porcelain Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy usually involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
